Workshop Details:
The goal of this Wiley Workshop is to increase your confidence and independence at home and in your own preservation practice. This workshop is hosted by founder, Chelsea J. O’Leary, from her wooded cabin.
We keep our workshops small and fun. You will be emailed ahead of time with further details—including a Zoom invitation.
In Depth: Jams & Marmalades is designed for people who are interested in making jams and marmalades, as well as learning how to incorporate them into meals, vinaigrettes, cocktails, mocktails, and more. It is an exciting, interactive workshop.
Our workshop agenda is below.
Introspection | We begin every workshop with a very brief introspective exercise to ground ourselves for our time ahead.
Jams vs. Marmalades | We define, compare, and contrast major themes of jams and marmalades.
The science of preserving | We examine concepts such as heat, pH, and water activity.
The safety of preserving | We explain how to preserve safely at home, including how to intuitively customize any recipe.
Demonstration | Chelsea demonstrates how to preserve a fruit or vegetable during class. This will be decided based on farmers’ market availability.
Q&A | This is a time to ask questions about making jams and marmalades.
Next steps | You will leave this workshop with the foundational knowledge needed to make jams and marmalades, as well as incorporate them into menus at large.
